How condo flooring noise rules work in Toronto buildings
Two sets of rules apply. Under the current Ontario Building Code, in force since January 2025, floors and walls between units must block airborne noise to at least STC 50, or ASTC 47 when the wall or floor and the construction around it are rated together. The code does not set an impact (IIC) rating. Footfall limits come from each condo’s declaration and rules, and some corporations ask for field-tested results. We match the acoustic underlay to your building’s written requirement, not a generic spec.
